So I realise its been awhile since I've updated my blog...well better late than never. This blog isn't going to be a story, or an event that I attended, or the musical that I pretended I was in costarring Priyanka Chopra. This blog will consist of me commenting on some things....random things.
+ Today, Levenger, the fancy version of Staples emailed me a "Recipe of Success" guide. I figured....AWESOME....I want to be successful and these guys have the Recipe, this is an awesome way to start my day. I got all hyped up and dreaming about my success; dreaming about my yachts, cars, many houses in different countries, and of course all the parties. This is so freaking awesome! SO I click on the fancy italicized link in hopes of seeing my path to Success-land. I am so naive because THERE is NO recipe for success. Levenger thinks that If I buy a fancy pen, with an overpriced notebook that goes in a ridiculously expensive bag, then I am bound to become successful. Well you know what Levenger, the only thing that I will become once I buy you're "Recipe" is in DEBT. How is that successful? It is the opposite of Success. I tell you what, next time you send an email like this, throw in a coupon or something. Or at least lower your prices.
+ Why does the internet think I need another Degree? Why is it that every time I click on something, I get re-directed to another website that explains to me that I need another degree to further myself in life. Isn't my Electrical Engineering degree good enough? Is it not up-to-internet-standards? I mean what the shit, doesn't the internet realize that in order to get another degree, I have to go back to school? Which means I have to dish out more money for tuition, books and other unnecessary fees and blahshit. Ya so thank you Internet for looking out for my future, but I can see right through you like a window with no window. You're like a salesman trying to sell me anything and everything. In you're face Internet, I'm staying where I am. If you want to help me out, throw me a million dollars or something.
+ Two face people are people who should be smacked in the back of the head every time they say something. Let me tell you something you two-face punk ass, if you're going to bad mouth me behind my back then fine, its acceptable. I am no perfect human being so please accept my apologies. I must have done something wrong or said something that may have hurt you...hence the bad mouthing. But seriously, if something is bothering you then come up to me and talk to me about it. Yes, I promise I will be accept you and your complaints and make sure it wont happen again. But if it's something dumb that you're upset about then be ready to be even more "insulted" for your lack of intelligence.
+ Hey there stranger in the big moving van, Hi, how are you? Ya, you see me now? Question, why didn't you use your INDICATOR when you decided to cut across three lines during the morning rush hour? See, if only you used that black lever type of thing that is so strategically placed near the steering wheel, the one where push up to turn left and push down to turn right, then you wouldn't have gotten the ugly hand gesture. Not only did you ruin my Monday morning, but I'm sure you ruined yours too. See, I would have felt some sympathy if you didn't cut across from the far right lane to the left and then back just so you could overtake a SCHOOL BUS! Please accept my apologies World for I should have followed this man and back-handed his face like a perfect back-hand shot down the line in Tennis.
+ To Mr. Jeep SUV that parks in my parking spot every evening. Please find another spot. Every evening I have to come home and find you sitting in my spot, which is something i DO NOT want to see when I'm coming home from work. I wouldn't be upset if it were free parking, which by the way you can find right across the street. See, the reason why I am pissed off is that I PAY for that spot. I pay an X amount of dollars to keep my car parked in that spot and to have it empty when my car isn't there. Thank you for keeping my spot warm...but I would rather have you not be there. How would you like it if you came home and saw me sitting in your favorite chair, eating out of your fridge, and peeing on your toilet seat? Ya, not cool huh...I know. It's a simple respect to the human world, don't use what is not yours without asking. Next time, I will find a spot for you at the tow company lot...nice and cozy!
Question to Ponder: Every successful love story has a broken heart. A love story consist of two love filled heart and one broken heart.

The Letter
To the Woman who crossed the street this morning,
I am sorry I sat on my horn at you this morning. I am sorry that I stopped the car and put my head out the window and yelled at you for moving like a float and not paying attention to the driver's on the road who are trying to get to work. You see, I did this for your own good. I was merely trying to teach you a lesson. Take this letter as a lesson of life. When you cross the street randomly, it scares the drivers on that road. For one, he has to stand on his brakes in fear of turning you into a bird; which if you were struck at the speed I was going, might have sent you to the hospital, or the burial ground, which then in turn would send my ass to jail or they would suspend my license and get fined and go to jail eventually.
Do you know what happens when I suddenly brake? When I brake, the other cars behind me have to brake. Imagine if the driver in the car behind me wasn't paying attention. Say he/she were changing the CD or the radio station. Say if the child in that car yelled out for mommy and daddy cause the baby smelled bad and did poo-pi in her/his pants. Do you know what happens to that car and that poo-pi'd baby? They end up in my back seat through the rear window. Can you live with that? Jeopardizing our lives because you couldn't wait for me to drive pass; because you couldn't wait for the light to turn red or even wait till the walking man flashes; because you couldn't cross at a normal cross path. Because of you, potentially three people could have been sent to the hospital this morning, or worse, could have been killed.
Also, because of you, I wasted so much gas in order to have my vehicle stop in time so I wouldn't run your pathetic McDonald billboard ass over; you walking speed bump. Do you even know how much gas costs these days? Yest, its not as expensive as it was last summer, but still $2.59~$2.69 per gallon still makes a dent in the wallet. If you were going to cross without notice, then the least you can do is pay for a gallon of gas. Mail it to me, or send me a voucher I don't care, just don't flip me off when I saved your life because your brain couldn't function with all that Soul Glow you decided to shower with.
So you see, don't take my yelling to the heart. I was merely telling you that I was paying attention. If it were any other driver, he/she would have ran you over in a heartbeat. And especially these days with all these senior citizens playing Grand Theft Auto - Bean Town Rumble style...you might be kissing the cement right now. So next time, don't cross without looking both ways. Try to be a good role model. Try to value your life more.

The Routine
Does it feel like you're doing the same things over and over again? Seems like life has become a regular TV show, same time same theme like clockwork. 6:50 wake up, 8 am work, 11pm sleep. Throw in some food, shits, showers, halo and call it life or the routine. Don't get me wrong, I love my job and am very thankful that my routine doesn't include job searching, struggling to put food on the table and such...I am very thankful that I can put food on the table, pay bills, and keep a steady income. But besides all that, put aside the thankfulness and doesn't it feel mundane? Is this what we were called to do? Is this why we were put on earth? Is this why we were born? To work and make money to have expensive health insurance to insure our mundane and routine life? Haven't you once thought that life is suppose to be a lot more than the "routine"? Isn't there a greater meaning to life other than paying bills and making money to pay more bills? I feel many of us...not all, but a good amount of us hold jobs so we can keep up the bills or to have money, or to be "loaded" as today's generation would say.
Next time you're at work, class, jogging, yoga, Starbucks for the rich or even at Dunkin for me and you or anywhere, just ask someone what they consider to be the "American dream". You'll most likely hear, house in the suburbs, picket fence, two cars, two kids, steady income 9-5 job plus three/four computers. But isn't that list all material value? Material value that requires a routine...money and commitment. Why can't the "American dream" be extinguishing poverty, promoting peace, seeing third world countries living the comfort and joys we take for granted? Why does it always have to be about material value? I'm no hypocrite. I do catch myself gloating in material value. I am exceptionally proud and over protective of my things, especially the things I paid for from my own pocket. I don't know why I'm like this, I don't blame society and I sure as hell wont don't blame the media. I do however blame myself. I understand the value of money, therefore I am "anal" about such matters. It takes a lot of hours of work to get the things you keep in your humble abode, so you have every right to be over-protective of them. No one will know how many hours and hard work you put in to get the stuff you have except yourself. No one knows how many hours you've put it to have that 50" plasma up on your wall. So go ahead, be anal about your shit...its got your blood and hardwork written all over it.
Don't kid yourself, you know you wouldn't be yourself or safe without money. I started to realize it when I first starting to pay for my own things, and I'm not talking about food, and clothes. I'm talking about things that we need to survive everyday. Like rent, utilities, health insurance and such. And to possess these survival items you need to make money, and how is it that we acquire money? By being the bitch for corporate America. The system will suck you in harder than a worm hole. And you will let it happen. You will take the shit that comes with the job and say to yourself, " ill do it, ill take this shit...as long as it pays the bills." Pretty soon that will be the excuse for everything, especially in this disgusting economy. And once you have enough money where you don't have to worry, you'll have kids, and then you'll say. " ill do it, ill take this shit...its for the kids.". Maybe I'm wrong. All depends on the job I guess. But know this, one day you will be living the routine...and you will hate it. But you will still live by it. Just know that won't be the only one :) and that some of us work to have luxuries, but there's a very good amount of us who work just to put food on the table.
Material to Ponder: What does it take for someone to say, "I am living the LIFE!"? How do you get there? What do you have to do? Are you there yet? What is LIFE to you?

The Thing About Warranties
I purchased a fancy Canon SD790 IS Camera during the month of July. Many camera users have mentioned that Canon is the way to go. They are absolutely the best in their kind. This particular one fitted my desire and dreams. It would take pictures 1.4 frames per second, so I would never miss a thing. They are equipped with Color Swap/Accent feature. This features enables you to harvest a particular color while making the background and everything else black and white. It's an amazing features that keeps you busy all day and night. Also, the flash extends to about 11.5ft, so pictures in the clubs of people doing nasties can be very well captured with this feature. This particular camera is 10MP. Now, I know what you're thinking, I don't really need a 10MP camera. And yes, you're right. I do end up shrinking the photos to save space on my computer. But I bought the camera for its shutter speed, the Image Stabilization feature, and the color accent feature.
I invested in this magnificent technology that will help me remember my past very cautiously. For days and countless nights I researched whether this camera would suite my lifestyle. I was happy when I bought it; it was like Christmas again, but in the month of July. I was very hesitant though, I mean not cause of the camera, but because of the cost. Did I really need an expensive camera? Is it really worth it? YES IT IS! :). So I picked my camera up at Circuit City and headed to the counter and this is how it went:
Woman At Counter: Would you like to buy a warranty for the camera? $49.99 for three years including parts and labor. So if you drop it, wash it, or even kick it, its covered.
Me: (Hell ya, this is an awesome deal. Who knows what's gonna happen.) Yes, please add it onto my purchase.
Woman At Counter: (MUAHAHAHA, sucker got sucked into buying a warranty. Wait till something happens and we'll refuse him service.) Have a nice day!
Me: THANK YOU!!
.........Seven Months Later............
Me: "Smile...happy birthday!..."
Went to a club for a friends birthday and realized that while taking pictures with my so awesomely awesome camera, the stupid cap of the shutter button has come off. I was so pissed. I mean, it's only been seven months. But oh well, I bought a warranty so I should be fine. I'll go in Circuit City and they'll fix; it'll be like running a knife in hot butter. The next morning I walked into Circuit City and explain to the Customer Service woman what my problem was. Her response:
Customer Service Woman: I'm sorry, this looks like it was an accidental damage. You're current warranty doesnt cover accidental damage. You need the Advantage Service PLUS.
Me: Ok, so how come I wasnt offered it back when I bought the camera and how can I get it? Everything in this world is accidental damage. What exactly does the standard warranty cover?
CSW: Oh well, you see, by LAW, our state cannot give out the plan. You have to get it from the neighbouring state.
Me: (Sarcastically and after much yelling) Awesome!
I called Circuit City in New Hampshire and the woman on the phone says that I cannot upgrade it because it's been more the 45 days. So I asked what do i do now. She told me to call Canon directly becasue the one year manufacturer warranty is still valid. So I call up Canon and tell them my problem and they said to send my camera on. I shipped my camera in to Canon, which by the way cost me $12. You must get insurance and tracking on the camera. Yesterday I called them back and asked what the deal was. She said:
Canon Customer Service: Sorry, the damage on the camera is not a factory defect. To get it fixed you must pay us $129 for the cap of the button.
Me: HAHAHA You've got to be joking. I've had this camera for seven months. How else do you explain it popping off.
CCS: Sorry, I am not a technician, I dont know how it all works.
Me: Great, send my camera back. Cause I am not paying $129 for the repairs. I can buy a brand new one for that price. You guys are kidding me. Thank you.
Moral of the Story: Always ask for accidental damage coverage. Never buy from Circuit City. Standard warranty covers technical malfunctions and such. Things like this harldy ever happen.
Question to Ponder: Why should I buy something where I have to buy something just to protect my purchase? Warranty should not be called Warranty...they should be called "Just-In-Case". Did I just pay for a "Just-In-Case"?

The Forgotten Time
Where did it go? The last I remember I got back from England and was ready to start my final semester in my final year of university. I was looking forward to this semester. We were finally making our design for Capstone. I had this amazing feeling inside of me because I finally got to see what our design would physically look like. AND also I would be graduating in the spring and moving on to the real world. I knew though that before then I would have to put in crazy hours for the capstone and for my courses if I wanted to finish strong in my final year.
...fast forward >> fast forward forward >> ...
I'm sitting at my desk, writing this blog, and thinking....from the first day back from England...to today...where exactly did the time go? It's been more than two years since I got back. And now i am working at a company and making money to save up for my future. So where did all the time go? Was I that busy that I don't remember some details of the past two years? Or am I just getting old?
I can recollect some things. I remember getting caught a week after with some authorities. People who read this will know what I am talking about. That was a fun night. I remember staying at the hotel after the flood hit the apartment. And then I remember making new friends, working and studying. That is the paraphrased version of it. I don't want to go into details to tell you the truth, but you get the picture right?
So many people have gone and come in my life. Some were impressionable and some weren't. Some I care for and some I could care less. Time has changed my thinking and the way I live my life now; of course for the better. I have so much I want to do; so much to accomplish.
Does everyone get to accomplish their goals? I think people do get chances to accomplish them, but they're just hard to point out; they come in disguises. In part people make their own chances and pave the road to their goals. I think if you really want it; if you really feel you deserve it, then you can have it. You have to show yourself. And I think that is where I have changed. I deserved the best and I deserved better than what I had. I pushed boundaries to get to where I wanted to be. I fought hard, really hard because I truly believed I could get to where I want to be...where I needed to be. And I'm glad I did because I'm happy. Some days more than the other...but at the end of the day, I am happy.
Plans were altered; dreams were changed. But the gist of my life is right where I want it to be. The people who I surround myself with make me happy. I love making them laugh and seeing smiles on their faces. I am happy that I can call these people my friends, my family, and my people. I wake up with the sunshine loving me and sleep with the moonlight besides me. Happiness. I deserved it and so do you.
Question to ponder: Are you happy? Go and find it.

The Day I Knew I Would Never Forget
It seems like a lot of people would never forget this day. It's been seven years now. I figured there would be a lot of "reflection" blogs and articles about how we have changed since 9/11 and what exactly was going on and what people were doing on that day. The day went by like no other. There was the everyday cubicle meetings, adding on the remembrance of that day....remembering the day to a point where people can pin-point on minute details. Well, here is my recollection of September 11, in the year of 2001.
The day started off like the previous day, with me waking up at 6am for school. I was a Junior back then. I don't usually have breakfast only cause it upsets my stomach. Not even a glass of water can settle in the mornings. I don't know why it's like that; I should probably consult with a physician cause they say breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Mental Note - Call Doctor About Breakfast. I knew exactly what I wore. Khaki pants with a light blue button down shirt on top of a white undershirt. See, I went to a private high school, so uniforms were mandatory. It was during the first period, Religion I believe....the irony. I loved that class. The class is taught by a priest. He's not like the other priests; he's chill, down-to-earth...well...if he's a priest than he should up-to-heaven more than down-to-earth. if you get what I'm saying. He's one the many few teachers who can connect with kids and be on their level. We usually watch movies in the class and then reflect on the movies on paper and class discussions. It was the best thing for someone whose not really a morning person. I could've used an hour or more of sleep.
Half-way through class there was an announcement on the PA system. It went something along the lines of there was an attack on the United States in New York. The Hancock building has been evacuated. We were in no immediate danger but if you wish to go home than you can. Very vague but informative. During break we went upstairs to my French teachers class. Not because he gave us free food and life lessons, but because he had a TV with cable. So we turned on the news and saw the Twin Towers on fire. No one really said much, they just gazed at the TV. Some had their hands on their mouths, others had wide eyes like as if they couldn't believe this was happening. Then all of a sudden the other plane hits the other tower. Huge gasps were heard everywhere. I remember someone saying, "Oh my God!". I was waiting forJohn McClane to jump out of the tower and take these guys down barefoot. But no, today was not the day Bruce Willis would appear; even though the it felt like a Die Hard movie. It would have been nice to see him there. I think everyone would have wished John McClane was there. We could have used him that day.
I don't really want to go into major details just because its hard to talk about them sometimes. It's not like I was there; I don't think I knew anyone...who...u know. But just knowing that it happened; knowing that someone could do this without regrets is the part that disgusts me. It hurts to know that so many people lost so many loved ones. Someone , that day, lost their mother, father, brother, sister, aunt, auntie, grandmother, or even grandfather. And it hurts to know that. I don't know what I would be like. Certainly angry. I would want some kind of revenge; want my country to back me up and defend my hate for the people who had done this; to make sure these people can't do it again and to punish them. Yes, I would have done this even if there was no support.
The nation was sad as was I. Couple months into the year I started to realize that the attacks on the towers sent a huge ripple into the Hate Sea. I could feel the after-shocks at home. Hate crimes being committed every so often. Being abused just cause of my skin color. At one time, I remember going to Taco Bell after playing at our Private Tennis Club. Me, my brother, dad and sister walked in. I remember telling my dad that we should change the flag that we put on the antenna to show our support. It was ripping from the side. He agreed. My dad was the last one to walk in; just as someone yelled something at us while driving by. I turned as did my dad. My dad had a disgusted look on his face, while I had no idea what just happened. "What happen dad, what did he say? Did we leave our lights on something?". "No, don't worry, I didn't hear anything anyway." While ordering our food, a woman came up to us and said, "I want to apologize on his behalf. It was disgusting what he said. I am sorry you had to hear that." My dad smiled and said, "Thank you, but after hearing something like that, you have to learn to ignore it and move on." The woman smiled and walked back to her seat. I looked at my dad and he went back to ordering his food. At that point I realized what that other guy in the car had said. I was angry, I wanted to go out there and beat the shit out of him. I have every right as does the person next to me be in this country. I have every right to prosper and live the American Dream. Just like you do and the person next to you. This is our right that we inherit when we become citizens. So who is he to say the stuff that he said. Its shameful. I bet you this though...one day, he's gonna say the wrong thing to the wrong person and get his ass whopped. And that will be my victory. A Reminder: this country was built by Immigrants.
And today; seven years later. The country has changed. Random-brown-guy-check at every checkpoint at airports. If your name sounds funny and your brown, then be prepared to be delayed for an hour. Forget the fact that you have an US Passport. In this day and age, it doesn't mean anything. We accepted this. For the safety of the nation. But this was abused by the system. We allowed the system to treat us like children. To listen in on our conversation and to make decisions for us. This country is based on us. It is "for the people by the people of the people". Is it not?
That is my recollection of that day. We honor it by having a moment of silence every year. To let it sink in on what happened seven years ago. It instills fear in some people, knowing that it could happen again at no moments notice. Many take this time to appreciate the soldiers over seas trying to prevent the bullies from taking away our freedom. We take time to remember all the people who didn't make it home at the end of the work shift; that day the people who had one, two or even three empty chairs at their dinner tables; the children who weren't read their nightly bedtime stories; the birthday celebrations that never happened because the guest of honor couldn't be found; the people who helped rescue the few survivors; the firefighters who risked their lives and everyone else...we remember all these people as fighters; workers; heroes..but most of all...I remember these people as Citizens of Freedom.
Question to Ponder: How have you changed in the last seven years?
The Random Thoughts
I have compiled some Random Thoughts that have been floating in my head for quiet some time now...I couldn't give each of them a whole blog...so I put them all together:
+ Where is the coverage for the Summer Paralympics of 2008? How come no one has mentioned or even shown anything on the news about this? We as a country praise the less fortunate for picking themselves up and doing great things...so then how come no one has said or even mentioned on these paralympics? There's more talk about the VMA Awards than there are about the 2008 games.
+ Some people just annoy me. Not because of who they are...but because of the things they do. If you're going to someones' place for a party...if you know you're gonna drink...then chip in with the alcohol costs. Don't just show up and expect someone to hand you a cup and go all Halo on the beer. Everything costs money. Beer costs money, the cups you drink from costs money as well. So why make such a huge hissy fit when asked to dish out $5 for an ALL YOU CAN DRINK FEST?
+ People in this world think I don't know whats happening or whats going on. They'll talk shit about me and think I will never find out. Well you know, I'm a very observant guy. I can see the head gestures and the eye roll...I'm not blind. I'm pretty good at picking up things. If you have a problem with me....come and talk it out. Don't be a wuss and do it behind my back. If you're afraid of confrontation then you don't deserve to be a human. Go beat yourself up with a pillow case full of soap bars.
+ You don't think I realise you haven't paid me back in such a long time? Remember the time when I loaned you some money...ya well, it was a LOAN...not a freaking grant or scholarship for being dumb and not having a job. Next time you see me...PAY my back. Or send it to my address. Cheap ass MOFOs. I am not made of money; I don't shit money, and I sure as hell don't have a money tree in my apartment.
+ Trust...something that has been lost in the span of so many years. Once you get to know a person, you start to realise on some of the things you can trust them with. But once they talk shit about you...or if they miss-use your stuff...it gets really upsetting. It angers me that people will use SOMEONE Else's shit without asking for it. And then they don't even have the cohonez to tell you that they borrowed your shit. That's messed up. And also...if I say something to you in confidentiality...it doesn't mean to go and tell the whole world. It's a simply rule friends have between each other...DON'T spread the word if its not suppose to be and don't take my stuff without asking!
+ I HATE...absolutely HATE it when people take advantage of other people. Like..I know people who go out of their to help other people...but when it comes to return the favor....NO...they turn their backs and walk away...well u know what...Try that shit with me...and ill beat you with my metal bat. And then ill help you to the hospital.

I don't have anymore things to write. I'm watching the Cowboys game and its just way to damn good. I will update my blog again soon. I've been pretty bad about it cause work and all...but now I think I should make some time to reflect and write about random stuff. Also, this blog is NOT about anyone, these are just some thoughts I have had over my lifetime that I never had time or even thoughts about putting it up. If you're offended or if you think that I wrote about you...then I'm not going out of my way to convince you I didn't. However, if you know that this is just a blog and if you understand that I am not that type of a person to talk about people behind their backs, and that if I had a problem with someone I would go up to them in person and tell them...then good...I like you. I will allow you to be my friend :).
Ponder: To be true to yourself starts with being true to others. It depends on how they respond to the confrontation. Find a solution and you'll make a new friend. Loose the battle and you'll never have to speak to that person ever again...and you wont have to be fake. Win-Win. What do you think?
